Timing and Clarity - old posts just making it here now... guess the timing is right.

Timing is everything

Time is one of those elements of life that we have such little control over. When we are young, time seems slow. Every moment has a grandness to it and, of course, the newness quality. As we grow, we see the little moments that slip through hands and the moments that bear fruit to our lives because the moments were right. It may have been that the moments were just right for us to attempt to jump, try to jump or just plain jump. But what happens when your timing is not in sync with those around you. Someone is bound to become unhappy.

Don’t ignore your moments of clarity

I believe your brain allows you to see reality in little glimpses every once in a while. The rest of the time we are all pretty much in our own little worlds or wrapped up in someone else’s.

Heraclitus - he speakes in poem... me not so much.

I ordered three books from amazon.com but only two have shown up. Both are the works of Heraclitus called fragments. True to the time before science ruled the world and books not handy to the common man, Heraclitus spoke in rhythmic phrase and greek, so any english interpretation must be interpreted as so.

Heraclitus - fragment 1

The Word proves
those first hearing it
as numb to understanding
as the ones who have not heard.

Yet all things follow from the Word.

Some, blundering
with what i set before you,
try in vain with empty talk
to separate the essences of things
and say how each thing truly is.

And all the rest make no attempt.
They no more see
how they behave broad waking
than remember clearly
what they did asleep.

Reflection on aging ... yum, gracefully?

As humans, we are at the mercy of our bodies, the vessels that store our souls. As modern day people who run from age, we have medical cures that allow us to defy death. We, as a group, shun the sorrow of the knowledge that death will eventually come. We forget that the success of living is not in the length of time here, but the impact which we make while here. Our ancestors knew this. Some cultures still know this. It is here in the comfort of the country and time in which we live, that we forget. For those of us in our progression of age, the comfort is dwindling. The control we felt when we were young is diluted to the point of non existence. The body affects the mind and back around to the same, sometimes leaving us in unchartered territory for this perspective of life. Life after youth and middle age is as fragile as a babies beginnings. Not a new thought, just wanted to validate it. Guess I feel old today. Ignore the caption on the picture. That's not what this is about. Go forward - don't go back.
